TEXAS HUNTING TRIP 1964

I restored several slides my granddad took in November 1964 during a deer hunting trip in East Texas. They show a bygone era when hunting was an important value in our culture. Check out the full video:

The kill shot went to Uncle Rusty – who looks pretty happy to claim his deer.

For dinner, looks like a turkey and some chickens on a rotisserie.

Time for the evening hunt. There’s Granddad and Uncle John.

Looks like Granddad’s buddy got a deer that night.

He looks pretty stoked about it.

Maybe he got two.

Next morning, Granddad got his buck.

After field dressing it, he and Grandmom hauled him back to camp.

I’m sure he made a hat or scarf out of the hide.

They took their kills back to the farmhouse in Crockett, Texas, where Granddad butchered everyone’s venison.
